Creative Youth Building Revolutionary (CYBR) Teams is an IRS 501(c)(3) program that provides middle and high school students with in-depth knowledge about cybersecurity principles, technologies, and data literacy. In addition to technical skills, this program fosters teamwork and life skills through competitions and mentorship from government and industry cybersecurity experts. Students have access to professional quality education and certifications such as Security +, and Cisco Certified Network Associate, which offer immediate job skills for employment upon graduation.
Graduates of this program are eligible for scholarships for technical training and/or college education, and are highly sought after by university-level cybersecurity programs that offer additional scholarships.
Students use professional-grade training environments and Department of Defense-accredited courseware that has been tailored to match their skill levels. School faculty members, supported by cybersecurity experts, facilitate classroom and/or remote instruction with program-provided instructional content. Students compete in a national cyber defense competition, called CyberPatriot.
Cyber Patriot puts teams in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In competition rounds, teams must find and patch cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services. Students also participate in other Capture the Flag competitions administered by groups like Carnegie Mellon University, SANS, and Google. Classroom training and competitions are enriched with site visits to local cybersecurity workgroups. Students are encouraged to participate in other computer science camps during the summers.
Tuition for this program is waived for economically disadvantaged students.
